What is dermal filler?

Hori uses hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers — HA is a sugar molecule the skin already makes that can hold many times its weight in water. Cross-linked into a smooth gel of varying firmness, it is placed in precise planes to restore lost volume, support structure and smooth folds.

Different products are chosen for different jobs: a soft, flexible gel for lips and fine lines; a firmer, more cohesive gel to rebuild cheek or chin structure. Results are immediate, settle over a week or two, and — importantly — can be dissolved with an enzyme (hyaluronidase) if an adjustment is ever wanted.

On the day and afterwards

After assessing facial proportions, the doctor injects hyaluronic-acid gel with a needle or cannula, often using a numbing cream or HA pre-mixed with anaesthetic for comfort. A session takes about 30 minutes.

Mild swelling or small bruises may occur and settle within days. Avoid heat, intense exercise and pressure on the area for 24–48 hours. Results are visible immediately and refine as swelling resolves.

When changes may appear

Results are immediate and typically last 6–18 months depending on the product and area. Because HA filler can be dissolved with an enzyme, the result is adjustable and reversible.
