RedTouch Pro aftercare: expected changes and warning signs

Aftercare should follow your clinician's instructions and your skin's actual response. This general checklist covers cleansing, moisturising, sun protection and symptoms that should not be watched at home without advice.

Quick answer

How should you care for skin after RedTouch Pro?

Use gentle products as instructed, avoid rubbing or introducing new irritating actives, moisturise and protect treated skin from the sun. Recovery varies with settings and individual response, so “no downtime” should not be assumed. Contact the clinic for increasing pain, swelling or redness, blisters, wounds, discharge, or a clear darker or lighter colour change.

Suitable for
People preparing for or recovering from RedTouch Pro under clinician guidance.
Results
Collagen change is gradual; use standardised photographs and the clinician's follow-up interval.
Risks
Redness, warmth, swelling, sensitivity, crusting, infection or pigment change can occur.
Downtime
Varies by settings and skin response; temporary redness or sensitivity may affect daily plans.
When to see a doctor
Contact the clinic for worsening symptoms, blistering, wounds, discharge or colour change.

The treatment day and first 24 hours

  • Do not rub, scratch, scrub or use a device on the treated area.
  • Cleanse and use products according to the instructions given for your treatment.
  • Avoid intense heat or activities that irritate the skin if your care team advises this.
  • If a change concerns you, take a clear photograph and note when it began and which products were used.

Temporary redness, warmth, mild swelling or sensitivity can occur. The intensity and duration differ between people and treatment settings.

Cleansing and skincare

The general principle is to keep care gentle and minimise new variables. Avoid introducing exfoliating acids, scrubs or several active ingredients at once until advised. If your clinician provides a specific product, use it in the stated way and for the stated period.

Sun protection is part of the result

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends sun protection after acne-scar treatment to help reduce the chance of treated skin becoming darker. General advice includes a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher, used as directed, and avoiding tanning while the skin recovers.

When to contact the clinic

  • Pain, burning, swelling or redness that is increasing rather than settling.
  • Blisters, wounds, thick crusting, discharge or changes that may indicate infection.
  • A clear darkening or lightening of skin, or a mark that is spreading.
  • For a severe allergic reaction such as breathing difficulty or facial swelling, seek emergency help.

This list is not exhaustive. Contact the treating team earlier whenever the response differs from the instructions you received.

How to make follow-up measurable

Use photographs with similar angle, distance, lighting and camera, and avoid filters. Record the treatment date, settings documented in the medical record, recovery symptoms and product changes. Collagen remodelling takes time, so assessment should follow the interval recommended by the clinician rather than the first few days.

RedTouch Pro aftercare FAQ

Can I restart my usual skincare immediately?+

Use the gentle products in your aftercare plan. Delay new or irritating actives until the skin has settled and the clinician says they are appropriate; do not add several products at once if irritation develops.

Is zero downtime guaranteed?+

No. Recovery varies with the area, settings and individual skin response. Temporary redness, warmth, dryness or sensitivity can occur, so follow the plan given for the actual treatment rather than a generic promise.

When should I contact the clinic?+

Seek review for increasing pain or swelling, blistering, discharge, a wound, spreading redness, or a clear darker or lighter colour change. Urgent symptoms should not wait for the next routine appointment.
